About Groveride

We started Groveride because buying a longboard shouldn’t take three days of research and still feel like a guess.

That’s not hypothetical. It happened—Jordan Ellis, Groveride’s founder, spent three days online trying to help her sister pick a first board. Every guide had specs. None of them said, “Given what you actually need, here’s what to buy.” A shop employee answered the question in five minutes. Jordan went home and started building the site that should have existed.

Before Groveride, Jordan spent five years as an urban transportation analyst in Portland—professionally studying how people move through cities. Longboards were personal, not professional. But the overlap was hard to ignore: the same information gap she saw in public transit planning showed up in every beginner longboard search. Too much data, not enough translation.

Every board on this site has been tested on real city streets—campus paths, bike lanes, cracked pavement, and that one hill you’re not sure about yet. We don’t sell everything. We sell what we’d actually recommend to a friend who said, “I want to start riding. What should I get?”

Our picks come with a straight answer: who it’s for, who it isn’t for, and what you’ll want to upgrade to in a year if you stick with it.

We’re based in Portland, Oregon. We ride what we sell.

The Groveride Promise

Every board ships fully assembled and ride-ready. If something’s wrong when it arrives or if you realize it’s not the right fit, we’ll make it right—free returns within 30 days, no questions asked.

We’d rather you find the right board than keep the wrong one.
